Purpose.

4/10/2017

You know what? I used to struggle with purpose. Actually, that’s a lie. I still struggle with purpose. And if you’re wondering what that means, it means that I struggle with not only finding my calling, and living it, but also finding a calling that glorifies Christ.
My favorite bible verse, which I’ve posted about before, is Ephesians 4:1. “As a prisoner of the lord, I (Paul) urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.” But as a nineteen year old girl…. HOW on EARTH do I know what my calling is supposed to be??? I really have very few leads on this, except that it’s not really about earth at all. I only know one thing, with the help of this verse, about what my calling should be. It should be about Christ, and it should allow me to live a life WORTHY of the calling (JESUS) that I have received. Other than that one (although extremely important) tidbit of information, I got no clue.
That is, I had no clue. Have no clue, and quite possibly will never have a clue. BUT THAT IS OKAY, because God has a clue. God can work through us even when we are unsure, afraid, or maybe even lacking in faith. He can work through us even when we feel ordinary and useless. A good example of this is in Genesis 26:1-35, where Isaac, who was a completely ordinary guy as a descendent of Abraham, had to learn how to have faith in God through even ordinary trials.

I like to think that I discover my calling little bits at a time. Through moments, music, family, friends, experiences, and time spent with my bible. I think it lies in things that make my heart want to explode with happiness, things that I can use to share my love for Christ and the message that lies in the Gospel. I think it’s important to learn to identify these moments, to make them last a little longer, and to let them sink into the heart so that you can find what makes them so important. I think that most importantly, God’s purpose is the most important in our lives, even when we don’t know how it’s taking place.

Outfit of the Day:
!!!!!!! My FIRST EVER outfit of the day!! Aahh, I’m so excited! Before I get into the specifics of the little number that I’ll be talking about today, I want to talk about my fashion sense a little bit. For me, I have a love/hate relationship with fashion because most of the time I’m outside in work clothes, and I’m not going to lie, I can be very hard on clothing so I’m very leery about dropping money on clothing items that I won’t get to wear a lot or that will wear out really fast. I honestly will probably not be doing outfit of the days very often, but that’s okay! It just means I’ll get to have more fun with them!
My fashion sense is very casual most of the time. I’m not an overly dressy person, but I also love a cute outfit. I do my best to make work clothes into a cute outfit, and sometimes I even feel comfortable running into town in dirty work clothes because I feel confident in what I’ve put together that day. I always wear blue jeans. I love baseball caps. I really value simplicity. So without further ado, here’s the outfit of the day :)

So from top to bottom:

Along with a little disclaimer, none of these links are affiliate links. I don’t make any money from these, I just want you to know what pieces I’m wearing, what they cost, and where to get them!

My baseball cap: This is my favorite hat. I love it to death, and I wear it almost every day. When I first got it, it was a beautiful navy blue but since it’s faded into an indigo/purple color. My dad got it for me from the Airforce base in Texas, so I’m not sure if you can buy it anywhere else. It’s under armor, and I’ll do my best to find a link to shop it!

My hair was tossed into a low messy bun (one of my favorite hairstyles!)

Camera Strap: Does anybody else plan outfits around their camera strap.. because I do! My camera strap is from Anaya, and it’s one of a kind like overy other strap that they sell, but they have many similar ones to the one I own. A similar company is nena and co. if you can’t find a strap you like from the first company. Here is a link to both:

Crap! Nena and company is currently restocking their camera straps, but here’s a link anyways!

Black Cotton Tee: This tee is a staple in my wardrobe. I’m not sure where I got it, but it’s pretty standard and I feel comfortable wearing it on a day to day basis.

Blue jeans: My jeans are from JCPenney’s, and they are fairly inexpensive. I also like wrangler’s women’s straight leg jeans, or the natural fit jeans. I love a good dark wash pair of jeans.

Hunter Boots: I’ve had my hunter boots for a while, and they are pretty beat up sadly. I used to never wear them out and about at home and kept them for good, but they are so beat up that I’ve begun to wear them in the spring muck (as you can see) out on the spread. The one’s I have are in the color dark olive, and I’ve had them for a couple of years now, yet they hold up surprisingly well.

Belt: You can’t see in the angle of the pic, but I was wearing a leather belt with a gold colored clasp. I wear this belt all the time J It’s from Target, and it’s real leather and has withstood a lot of damage and wear.

Thank you everybody for reading this far, this has been a fun post to write! What are your favorite outfit staples? I want to hear all about your favorite clothing pieces in the comments, :) or if you feel like you have nothing to share, feel free to say hello. I would love to talk to you all. So bye for now, I’ll see y’all later!
